The television adaptation of Sally Rooney’s book, Normal People, has taken BBC audiences by storm. The Independent described it as “pitch-perfect” and The Guardian said that it “depicts all the embarrassments and excitements, horrors and humiliations, glories and grotesqueries,” of a young couple’s four-year relationship. Audiences fell in love with Connell for his piercing eyes and sensitivity and Marianne for her unapologetic personality.
